How Attraction Marketing will Make Your Small Business Successful

If you are in the direct sales or network marketing world, you may have heard the term “attraction marketing” tossed around. You may have heard your audience will come to you and that your business will take off this way. It can be discouraging to grow a business that several hundred or thousands of others are doing, but let me tell you a secret… They aren’t YOU.

That’s right, attraction marketing is all about making you the center of your business.

But, not in a self-centered way of course. 😉

People are attracted to people, not products. There are a million skincare lines out there, and the story is what sets them apart and why they have their audience buying.

If you still aren’t sure about your audience, start here first.

Whether you are in direct sales, own a small business, or want to work as a social media influencer, attraction marketing will be your game-changer for success.

My goal with this post is for you to have a concrete grasp on attraction marketing, and for you to have a lightbulb moment of how this applies to you and your business. Are you ready? Let’s dive in!

You may think your product will sell itself, and I am going to tell you now that you will really limit your sales if this is your only strategy.

This also is going to be a good time for me to tell you: stop cold messaging.

Now if you are asking, well how am I going to hit my sales goals without doing these things?

Attraction Marketing will lead you to long-term customers that trust you. It won’t be a “get rich quick” but with consistency and trust-building, you are going to gain more than just a quick sale.

I want you to shift your mindset to where your business isn’t the center, but you are. Ask yourself these questions and think about them. How does my business or product fit into my life? What did my product do for me? How has this business helped me? What problems does my product/business solve?

Got this written down?

These will be the areas you talk about and incorporate into your social media. Now, this is where your target audience comes in! You need to get in the mindset of how you can help and serve others, through you.

Going back to your notes, I want you to write down WHO you are talking to and wanting to reach. This will really help you figure out how to speak to them while telling your story.

No one wants to be sold to, you want your customers to come to you.

Here are some ideas of how you can create attraction marketing opportunities:

  • Tell a story. This is my absolute favorite method because it focuses on CONNECTION. Tell your story on how this business changed your life.
  • Share your story, or a customer’s story on how the business helped solve your/their problem.
  • Show how you use the product in your day to day life. Show it in action!
  • Make posts that bring value to your business, before even dropping a “buy now” bomb.

Be specific when speaking on these pain points, too. If it gave you the financial freedom to __. If it gave you more time to __. What I want you to realize is you want to be genuine and specific.

Don’t just say this gave you financial freedom. This can be interpreted differently by your audience. Did it give you the financial freedom to buy your groceries? Financial freedom to get out of debt? Financial freedom to buy your kid’s Christmas toys? CONNECT and be specific.

If you feel the connection is missing, here is a checklist I want you to take action on:

  1. Profile Photo: Literally the first thing someone sees, is it your face? Set your profile to a photo of you to connect and show you are human!
  2. Bio: Is your bio all about you, or do you share how you can help? (ex. I help mamas feel more confident!)
  3. Stories: If you are on Facebook or Instagram, post to your story so your audience can hear you and see you!
  4. Share your story consistently: It will feel repetitive to you. But remember your followers are (most likely) not seeing every single one of your posts. Incorporate your story ever so often on what your business did for you.
  5. Sharing resources and building value: You are the expert, and I want you to always have that mindset! Build value within yourself and your business.

Now, let’s continue on to how you can increase your value and build trust further.

If it makes sense for your business, you need to start a blog like yesterday. Blogging is a unique way to connect with your target audience, but even more than that. Have you ever been messaged on “how to apply __”, “how to__”, or “when should I use __”?

How wonderful would it be for you and the customer experience to be able to link them to a blog post that addresses their exact question! Literally an opportunity to show your expertise and be seen as professional, because you mean business and take the extra step to solve your audience’s problems.

If you aren’t sure how to start a blog, I got you. See? A perfect example of how having a blog is a game-changer! You can take it even further by building an e-mail list from your blog to e-mail exclusive offers and nurture your customers further before they are at the buying stage.

In short: your customer buys off feeling and emotion, not just on a good deal. As a small business, you are up against however many other businesses and need to stand out. Be authentic, and let your audience see a peak in your life!

Here are some quick examples of attraction marketing in your content:

  • A personal & business sandwich. Give a personal piece, add in business, close with personal. (ex. I can’t believe how much my baby is grown! I will never forget the guilt I felt dropping off my oldest to daycare and feeling mom burnout. I am so grateful for this business and for all of you! I am planning to tackle organizing baby clothes today while getting back to all of your messages!)
  • Celebrating: Share if you got a new teammate or sale! Again, people thrive off personal connection. Give that personal touch to how this impacts others.
  • Behind the Scenes: break down that 4th wall and let your audience in on how you are working! Share you packaging orders, having your kiddos surrounding you, and show the “messy” and real.

I hope your creativity wheels are just spinning away right now. Attraction marketing allows your audience to feel comfortable with you, so get out there and blow their minds with learning more about you and what you do!
