Has your favorite blogger or influencer recently written “click the link in my bio!” and you had no idea what they meant?
The world of social media influencing is exploding, and it can be hard to keep up with. Links are a HUGE asset to bloggers and social media influencers, so I have to first THANK YOU for taking the time to understand and support them. Working from Instagram can be an intense business, and people like you make it possible for us to continue our business.
So what does “click link in my bio” mean? You may see this on a post, video, or story and it means the Instagrammer is directing you to their profile. Once there, you will see a website hyperlink that you can click. This is where they are wanting you to click to check out their latest post, deal, or url. This can sometimes look like a link tree, that will contain multiple links within.
Above is an example of how you will find this! Now, why are links so important?
This can either be linking to a blog post, a Facebook group, a Youtube video, or an affiliate link. Whatever the Instagrammer decided to put there! 🙂 You could potentially be asked to “click the link in my bio” if you are curious about where that Instagrammer got her shirt. This means she linked it in this blue website space where you can shop directly.
This leads to another area, of affiliate marketing! If you click the link from the Instagrammer and it redirects you to a clothing site, this could be an affiliate link. This means that if you shop through the link, the Instagrammer earns a small commission from this. By shopping through her link, you are not charged anything extra, but essentially the company gives her credit for bringing them a sale.
Next time you click the link in the bio, just know that small business owner is leaping for joy because you are supporting their small business in whatever capacity that may be!
