Make a Great Income through Social Media and Blogging

Wanting to make money online? Wondering how your favorite social media influencers and mom bloggers do it? Or maybe you feel there isn’t an opportunity for you.

While the goal should never solely be to make money from your social media or blog, I am sure you are curious just how you can make an income through these channels.

This past month, I have landed 5 brand sponsorships and I am going to tell you exactly how I did it. I am a huge believer in community over competition, so let’s get you on your way to making an income on social media!

So, how do you make money from your social media?

While in a previous post, I covered how to negotiate brand deals that come to you, I want to be blunt and honest. Not every opportunity will just fall into your lap.

Any mom blogger or influencer will tell you growing their platform is hard work. There is so much time that goes into this business, but that isn’t to say there isn’t an enormous opportunity. Mom bloggers and social media influencers can have a variety of income sources, oftentimes multiple streams. This can take form in affiliate marketing, ad space, selling a product or service, and lastly sponsorships.

My absolute favorite way to land brand sponsorships is to apply for them! I love this method because it allows me to apply to companies that I would really enjoy working with. Also, influencer marketing platforms have you set up an account and track your analytics, so brands can easily see your platforms and analytics.

I have created a quick list further down for you to check out after you feel confident in applying to the campaigns. For this post, I’m going to detail my current favorites.

This post will also contain affiliate links, which means I have referral codes for a few of these platforms. However, I am only speaking on personal experience and those that I actually love!

Social Fabric is a platform I have used since the beginning of my blogging days, and I truly enjoy how easy they make it is! Once you connect your social media accounts, you will have campaigns you can apply to. I have personally made the most from Social Fabric currently, and their payments range from $50 (for posts) to $800 (for blog posts).

Next up is a more recent favorite, where I made quite a bit from posting an Instagram Story! The Sway Group is up and coming, and has been super easy to use. I love that they send weekly e-mails for campaigns to apply to, so you never miss an opportunity. What is wonderful about them is they even have opportunities for us small influencers!

Linqia works a little differently, where you can’t apply to opportunities until they are sent to you. I think it is kind of fun where it’s more of a random selection and it’s weeding out opportunities you wouldn’t be interested in. This also works differently, where your pay can vary depending on the success you have. So link clicks are what is most important in this platform! It brings out more of that hustle I mentioned, where it is a more true affiliate marketing model (with a base). I have participated in 10 campaigns with them and I’m very satisfied with my experience.

Other platforms I’ve used include Marketo, Mavrk, Clever, and AspireIQ. There are so many out there that exist! If you are looking to make this a part or full-time job, I want you to make applying to campaigns part of your daily tasks. Having brands message you is great, but it isn’t something you can rely on receiving consistently. Going out and applying to campaigns will ensure that you have more, and the right, opportunities in front of you.

How do I get accepted for brand collaborations on my social media?

I’m going to share a few tidbits with you. Some campaigns will just ask for your basic info, if you have worked with competitors, or if you are located near the store. However, some will ask for you to pitch an idea of how you will showcase their product.

Don’t let this deter you from applying. You got this.

Typically, the campaign will have a focus and reason they are looking for influencers. This can look like back-to-school lunch ideas, promote x with a recipe, promote x is now available at x store. So, with this in mind, you will want to pitch exactly how you will post/capture this!

This was a pretty cut and dry application, but there is still my voice in my pitch! I feel this is very important so the campaign managers can hear your voice and how you will share the brand.

While I have mainly focused on blog sponsorships, I have recently explored Instagram sponsorships and have enjoyed the simplicity of them! There are a few apps you can download including Collabor8 (disclaimer, this is typically trading for trade model), Heartbeat, Popular Pays, and Influenster are all apps I have had experience with.

Weekly, I’ll set aside time to check out the open campaigns and decide which ones I want to apply to. Campaigns can run at different timelines, so it can sometimes appear as a burst of sponsored posts even though you began the campaign weeks apart.

I err you do not go overboard with sponsorships and keep in mind to apply to campaigns you truly enjoy! You want to maintain authenticity and trust with your audience, which in turn will make the campaign a more successful one.
