Decorating Ideas for a Coastal Toddler Room

My daughter needed a much-needed room makeover after moving into our new home. This has been a slower process than expected, as I want to only get pieces I truly love and know will have a long-term spot in her room. It has been such a joy converting her nursery into a coastal toddler room, with timeless pieces.

I worked with Sunnydaze Decor on the perfect bedroom setup. Sunnydaze is a wonderful online furniture company that caters to both indoor and outdoor furniture pieces. I am very impressed with the quality, and how perfectly it tied her room together!

When it was time to decorate my daughter’s nursery, I decided I wanted a coastal theme. We fell in love with teal colors, coastal, and mermaids. Who would’ve known this would become her favorite style many years later?

I feel so fortunate that we had a similar theme to her nursery and kept most of the decorations. Having staple decorations can be a great way to have a room theme while keeping your bigger furniture pieces neutral and timeless.

Our daughter chose additional decorations she likes, really allowing her to be involved in her new room transformation. She chose her sheets and blankets, and a few items to place throughout her room. I really love having her involvement so she feels like this space was hers.

We went with a simple white bed frame that will go with any style she may have in the future (I am pretty confident mermaids will be here to stay for a while though!). Investing in high-quality pieces will help as your children grow into their rooms and their own personal styles.

When I saw this beadboard table from Sunnydaze I instantly fell in love. It absolutely fits our coastal theme and is such a classic furniture piece! A coastal toddler room theme can be a great way to bring the beach vibes indoors, and I feel it adds a certain element of peace to their space. Start by adding a white or light blue color to the room. Then, some beach-inspired accents like a starfish wall piece.

As she gets older, it’s been so nice to have storage pieces for her room. The beadboard side table will be a furniture piece that will not only hold up for her childhood years. But, it will grow with her in terms of style. Not only can a side table provide a convenient place to store books, toys, and other items, but it can also make a great decorative piece.

Having furniture pieces that serve multiple purposes is also a huge help when you are tight on space. The table top can hold all of her necessities like water, a humidifier, and decor. While not sacrificing style for use, the two storage compartments are such a help for this space!

I really love classic neutrals. This is my tip for any parent who is wanting to let their children pick a themed room, but also wants to be mindful of longevity. Check out Sunnydaze and use code HOME2023 for yourself for your next indoor or outdoor room makeover!
