We kicked off our first trip of the year on memorial day weekend to Bear Lake! We broke out our camper and traveled a few hours to stay in Garden City, Utah. Here is a recap of our trip with our kids.
Campsite
We stayed at Sun Outdoors Garden City. It was a nice clean campground with direct access to the beach. Unfortunately when we went (May 2022) the water was pretty far back at the time due to drying up. You will have to walk a bit to get to the water, but it was beautiful! It has a nice playground on-site and a pool as well. The “downsides” to this campsite are no firepits allowed and no outdoor rugs, which are really nice to have when coming from the water! I will also mention Sun Outdoors does a 20% off military discount. Overall it was a nice campground and a decent location just off the center of town.
Food
Garden City is known for its raspberry shakes, so it was a must-try when we visited. We went to Ephraim’s Restaurant which is right off Bear Lake Boulevard. You go inside the porch and order at a window and it comes out at a next door window. There is seating surrounding and it was nice and shaded.
We saw high praise for Cody’s Garage so we had dinner there. It was American food and had a pretty decent menu. We got the chips and queso/salsa appetizer and the queso was incredible! I got the turkey club, my husband the chicken cordon bleu, and our daughters had macaroni. When you get to Cody’s, you’ll walk on the left-back side of the building, as the entrance faces the water.
