Easy Stovetop 3 Bean Chili Recipe in 30 Minutes

I am finally sharing my chili recipe with you all! This is my go to meal when I need something simple, and that I know my family will love. If you are stumbling upon this recipe, I wanted to provide a quick background. I’m a working mom of two toddlers, so easy meals are a must for us. I especially love when meals can be leftovers, too. This easy stovetop chili recipe only takes 30 minutes, so I hope you and your family will enjoy it as much as we do!

I start with browning the ground beef on the stove on medium-high heat. Meanwhile, I begin dicing my onion. I dice half and store in a ziploc in the fridge for next time, and dice the other half for dinner.

When the beef is mostly done, I drain the grease and add in the diced onion. I let this cook for a few minutes until the beef is done and the onion is cooked.

I cover the beef with half a packet of taco seasoning and about 1/3 cup of water. I eyeball the water and do just enough to cover the bottom of the pan.

As the beef cooks with the seasoning, I begin straining and rinsing my black and pinto beans. I recommend a ratio of 2:1 on what you strain. So if you decide to do this recipe using only pinto and kidney beans, strain 2 cans of pinto beans.

After a few minutes of letting the beef cook with taco seasoning, I add my drained black and pinto beans, chili kidney beans, and diced tomatoes. I give this a good mix so it is evenly combined. I sprinkle chili powder over and mix again.

Bring this to a boil, then lower the temperature (I put it on about 3), and cover, to let it simmer for 15 minutes.

Then, serve! I swear we have this just about every week. It is so yummy and makes for a delicious, hearty dinner. It is also really yummy the next day as leftovers. We love eating it with shredded cheese and scoop tortilla chips, but I have had family enjoy it with crackers and even sour cream. I hope you try this out and enjoy it just as much as we do!

Ingredients

  

• 1/2 onion
• 1 tsp chili powder
• 1 can chili kidney beans
• 1 can black beans you can substitute a type and double another
• 1 can pinto beans
• 1 can diced tomatos
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1/2 packet taco seasoning
• shredded cheese

Instructions

 

• Dice 1/2 onion.

  Brown ground beef.

  When ground beef is almost fully brown, add in diced onion. Drain if needed.
• Once the beef is fully browned and onion is soft, add in water and taco seasoning. Let cook for a few minutes. While this cooks, drain the pinto beans and black beans.
• Add in beans, diced tomatoes, and chili powder. If you like it spicier, double the chili powder amount.
• Bring to a boil and simmer covered for 15 minutes.
• Serve with cheese, chips, or anything to your liking.
