It has been a hot minute since I have done my nails! I’ve been pretty lazy lately and just painting them, but I really enjoy doing nail art. I did a little tutorial so you can try out this look too, it would look great with any colors of your choice. I chose to do more neutrals to keep it simple and to match any outfit. (yes, I’m that kind of person to match my nails to my outfit!) This takes about 10 minutes to do, but will look like you took hours. Um, yeah sign me up! Let’s get started.
Here is what you will need. I don’t have a specific favorite brand, but I do love Pure Ice because they are so cheap and pretty good quality. This Essie nail polish has been one of my faves and I need to get another one!
Start off with a base coat to protect your natural nail. I recommend this for every time you paint your nails, but especially with using black nail polish that sometimes will stain your nail.
Next, I painted my thumb and middle finger with the black nail polish. I only need to use one coat of this, which I like because dark colors can be a pain to remove haha
I then apply the nude to the rest of my nails. I did two coats on my index and pinky, but only one on my ring finger because it is going to be covered up anyways and I wanted it lighter.
It’s polka dot time! My little tip is to use your toothpick (or dotting tool) and just glide it against the polish brush. I know a lot of people like to use the brush and make a little pile of it on a plate but, I feel like this way I don’t waste any polish because I get too much or it dries up before I use it.
To make it more like a polka dot pattern, make sure when you start the next row you do it in the ‘window’ between the two above. almost like making triangles with the dots.
