The Best Crockpot Roast Recipe I’ve Ever Tried

I know that title is a little bold, but I swear this recipe will become a tried and true meal for your family! My mom introduced this meal to me last month, and I have been dying to make it again for my husband when he returned from military training. This is seriously the best crockpot roast recipe I’ve ever tried, and I cannot wait to share this with you all.

The holidays are right around the corner and I have discovered a big majority of people don’t actually like turkey dinner! (I’m team Turkey here but no hard feelings!) I was shocked to discover that, but it had me thinking this would be an amazing Thanksgiving or Christmas meal to make for your family if you aren’t a ham or turkey kind of household. There is just something so rich about a yummy chuck roast, especially when it doesn’t mean hours of roasting and care!

Dump-and-go recipes are my jam but I understand the hesitation to put in something like a roast. But TRUST, this is one you will fall in love with and you will make time and time again. This meal is also referred to as Mississippi pot roast, but whatever you call it is delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds chuck roast
  • Salt, pepper, olive oil to taste
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 packet of onion soup and dip mix
  • 1 packet of dry ranch seasoning
  • 1/3 cup of pepperoncini juice
  • 4-6 pepperoncini

Instructions for Crockpot Roast:

First, season roast with salt and pepper and sear on all sides in a pan with olive oil.

Place on the bottom of your crockpot and pour the ranch and onion soup mix over.

Add a few pepperoncini and some of the juice around the roast.

Cut a stick of butter and place it over the roast.

Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.

When done, remove from the slow cooker and shred the roast. Serve with mashed potatoes and corn, or any roasted vegetables.

This recipe gives the most flavorful roast I have ever made on the stovetop or oven. It will surely be a hit for your entire family, it even passed my picky eaters and they went for seconds! We served this with mashed potatoes and corn, but I’ve also tried it with scalloped potatoes. It could be very yummy with roasted carrots, Brussels sprouts, or green beans too.
