Simple Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

I have been in a bit of a blogging slump. In both real life and digital, food seems to fix everything! So let’s enjoy a great warm, home style meal that you need to give a try.

I have tried many, many chicken and dumplings recipes and this is the first to actually turn out how I wanted. If you are a bit leery about the crockpot, I totally felt the same. That’s how good this is!

What you need:

-crockpot

-crockpot liners (if you aren’t using this regularly, it will change the game)

-2 cans of cream of chicken 

-1 can of chicken broth 

-chicken breast (I used about a pound)

-mixed veggies (frozen or canned will work)

-can of biscuits

-pepper

-parsley

1. In the crockpot, add chicken, broth, cream of chicken, and the mixed veggies. Sprinkle in pepper and parsley to your liking. 
2. Let cook for 6 hours on low (or 4 on high)
3. Shred chicken
4. Cut up can of biscuits into small pieces and add to the crockpot to create a top layer 
5. Cover for another 1-1.5 hours until biscuit dough is cooked
6. Serve!

This recipe is so simple, and was a hit even with my kids! I don’t want to be one of those blogs that bogs down this post with a lot of personal anecdotes but I do want to add some notes to make sure this is fool proof for you too!

Notes:

My first tip is to cut up my biscuits while prepping in step one and stored in a Tupperware. That way when everything was done cooking, I could just add it in and not have to prep a second time! I highly recommend it if your nights are busy like mine. 

Also, when cutting the biscuits, make sure you flatten them down a bit to make them thinner. If you leave them too thick they will take longer to cook and you may experience that more doughy texture.
