How to Have the Pregnancy Glow

The infamous “Pregnancy Glow“. Any women who has been pregnant knows how coveted that pregnancy glow compliment is! Even when you feel like a total wreck or have zero energy, remember it’s okay: you are growing a human! I have been very lucky to have such an easy pregnancy so far, but even with that being said, it’s been rough on my body and sleep schedule. Here are some great ways to get that glow back or keep it there until baby arrives.
Sleep

This has been my biggest struggle during this pregnancy, because I’m the type of person that needs my 9-10 hours of shut eye. BUT with a kicking little firecracker in me, I’ve lost a lot of sleep. Whether you are pregnant or not, sleep is so vital to your health and well-being. Find ways to get comfortable at night whether that include a fan, sound machine, 7 pillows, or a sleeping mask! If your schedule allows, try taking a short nap during the day to regain some energy.

Confidence Boosting Clothes

I’ll be the first to admit, my body changing took it’s toll on me. I would slip on a shirt that wouldn’t cover my belly, or attempt to zip up a dress that fit perfectly before and almost lose my mind. It was hard to come to terms that it’s not just my belly expanding, but my whole body is undergoing changes. I have relied heavily on Pink Blush Maternity not only for comfortable, well-fitting clothes, but also for confidence. They have such gorgeous pieces that don’t look over the top maternity and are so on point with fashion trends. This cute little number can be found here.  My absolute favorite color is teal and I felt so confident and beautiful in this outfit- which is something I have been missing for a little bit!

Staying Active

If you were heavily in the gym before, or a couch potato, staying active is so important to maintain that glow! I have found great prenatal yoga and exercises on youtube that make me feel so rejuvenated and regain my energy. If you aren’t already, incorporate walks or simple exercises to keep your limbs stretched, as well as baby ready!

Drink Water

I think this may be a no brainer for most, but it’s something I have to remind myself of daily! I have noticed a huge difference when I have water throughout the day and it’s one of the best things you can do for you and baby. It is especially important to stay hydrated in the last trimester, but you should have a goal of drinking about 10 glasses a day. While having water is encouraged, having things that contain plenty of water too can help with your intake. Not only will staying hydrated give you that pregnancy glow, but it can also help keep swelling at bay.

Skin Care

This has been a huge struggle, because this old wive’s tale is so true. She is stealing all of my “beauty” and I have been having breakouts and blemishes since finding out I was pregnant. I know it’s not true for all, but this has put a huge damper on my overall pregnancy glow! ha I have been having to take extra care of my skin, washing it more thoroughly, using moisturizer, and making sure to remove all of my makeup at night. Taking care of your skin is so vital, through pregnancy and not, so don’t skimp on the face wash! I will be having a post soon on my favorite products so stay tuned!

Have you been told you have the pregnancy glow? I would love to hear how you are thriving through pregnancy, share your tips mamas! I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend. I am spending the weekend in Utah with family and we will also be having a baby shower which is super exciting.
